Super Moon (Perigee Full Moon) !!! Bigger, Brighter, and Closer! I had to take pictures and videos of it.
Tonight the Moon is going to be closer, brighter, and appearing bigger because it is closer than usual. Tonight it will be about 70 years ago since we last saw it like this in 1948 and we will not see it again until 2034.
I have always loved looking up at the night sky, seeing all the stars, planets, and the Moon. When ever the Moon is full it shows up very well in telescopes. I took Astronomy a year or so back and I went ahead and splurged on something that I still use today. I did some research and found out telescopes can be crazy expensive for really good ones. I ended up with a nice Cassini CQR-120 Reflector Telescope, F 1000 x 120 mm. It works pretty great for seeing up in space a bit.
The pictures used on this blog are just a few of the pictures I personally took tonight using my telescope, IPhone 6S Plus, and Alcatel Idol 3 cell phones. I like taking pictures and seeing the big events like this as they come along.
I set it up to see the Moon through the telescope and take some pictures like I used to do with my Samsung Note 4. I started about 6:15 pm and finished about 9:00 pm. My IPhone 6S plus was not taking pictures very well with the stock camera the Moon was just a white circle. So I found this app on the app store for free called Tadaa it has the settings I needed to take good pictures with and it also had a clarity button which I used to make some of the pictures clearer with, and it worked very well. The videos I took with both devices will be on YouTube. They are raw no editing. Here are some slide shows of what I got to see and got to show you. Hope you enjoy the pictures and videos. Click subscribe on my YouTube channel to keep up with new content. It a new channel and hopefully it grows to be a great source of entertainment and information.
The first slide show is pictures from the Alcatel Idol 3. The second slide show is from the IPhone 6S plus. You will notice when the ones from the Tadaa camera app comes up they are pretty cool. I love them.
The last three pictures in the second slide show are from the app called Moon on my phone. You pick a date and it shows what the moon looked like. The dates are on them I took screen shots. It is a very cool app. The picture right before those three is only of the ones I used Tadaa to take. It is one of my favorites if not my favorite one. There are also a few pictures of a couple stars I found while looking around.
Thanks for checking out my pictures and videos.
